Apr 24, 2012 - Nope. With pop I mean he is a populist. He seduces people with his charisma, and his references to a waste academic field. But that is his surface the apparence of Zizek. The inner movement, the essence of his teachings are for me: dirt. He has nothing interesting to say, nothing new he just repetes old ideas and try to combine different discplines back and forth and never gives clear answers or analysis. Alot of ppl talkes about him as he was a genius, but I have never seen any proof of that.
IStehSHIT Says:
Apr 24, 2012 - Ok, I get your point, and I'm not opsing it. Maybe the reference to pop-art was only in my head. Never the less Salvoy is an equivalent to popart as much as Plato. :) (not at all, there are so meny dimensions to pop-art not known to people that have not read in to easthetics/art history)

Apr 25, 2012 - Breivik is not anti-Semitic. His manifesto is free for anyone to download and verify. Such talk is simply irresponsible.

Apr 27, 2012 - Zizek reminds me daffy duck in the good way
littlefootguyman Says:
Apr 27, 2012 - If I ever had to interview Zizek, I would just say, "Go."
TheObituarist Says:
Apr 27, 2012 - Zizek, I'm thinking about pussy. We have 10 minutes left in our session.
socrev2012 Says:
Apr 29, 2012 - Yes, he is. He writes that Norway and Europe dont have to many jews but to many muslims so they need to make a pact with the jews against the muslims. But he also says that the US have to many jews. Breivik sees the problem today as muslims instead of jews as Hitler did.
ntskl Says:
Apr 29, 2012 - Breivik is a kosher conservative turned murderer. He loves Israel and the would love Jewish support if he could muster some for his cause. He is the embodiment of the recent European trend of so-called "radical-" or "far-right" which is essentially classical liberalism with a nationalist, anti-Islamic, philosemitic streak. Now that I think of it, this is basically a transplant of the American evangelical right into Europe.

vygotsky17 Says:
May 6, 2012 - Did he call Zizek a conservative at 00:51?
stillceaser Says:
May 10, 2012 - Try reading his books then, cause you clearly haven't understood him. If you dont have an understanding of Hegel, Marx, Adorno, Freud and Lacan then you will get him very wrong.
stillceaser Says:
May 10, 2012 - Yep, we should have listened to Adorno. 'Interesting Times' ahead.
TheSeka007 Says:
May 15, 2012 - yes is cool . he is on the 100 philosopher in oll werld . He is the best.
astroboomboy Says:
May 18, 2012 - The project of Zizek is Socratic, the meaning of his work is to make you realize there is no economist, philosopher, or scientist sitting with the answers (that is an idea we have which stems from religious indoctrination of ultimate answers, read his book the monstrosity of christ). So you clearly have not read any of his work, and like most people are full of shit.
astroboomboy Says:
May 18, 2012 - If a philosopher uses rhetoric to popularize his thought, his new perspectives and analysis, he is accused of populism, seduction and charismatic trickery. When a scientist employs the same tactic he is applauded. This is ideology and hypocrisy as its best: because science is objective (as if) it can be popular, but philosophy is subjective (as if) it must be kept within the limits of academia, or maybe even the dinner table (those against philosophy as a field). Bigots I say!
materialist68 Says:
May 21, 2012 - I have heard alot from Zizek, and I have read one of his books. If you really belieave in critical thought you should be critical of Zizek instead of worshiping him. Questioning things are very important, but questioning without acting, without drawing conclusions that can help mankind is bargage in my opinion. Even Socraties went to war for Athens, Zizek will not even take clear sides. He is a coward.
astroboomboy Says:
May 21, 2012 - I don't even agree with his philosophy, but I acknowledge his deep understanding of the subjects he is addressing. If you one day manage to read, and understand, his main work "the parallax view" you will see what I'm talking about, although that book demands the reader have a deep understanding of Kant, Hegel (and German idealism in general), Lacan (psychoanalysis in general) and modern philosophy in general. Oh, he takes sides, he has even run for the presidency of Slovenia.
materialist68 Says:
May 22, 2012 - I think its different for me to be critical of Zizek, then for you. I am a Marxist, Zizek uses Marxist rhetoric, wants to be viewed as a "radical left". But its just a facade. His in this regard a fake. He takes sides oh yeah, he was with the communist party, then when the regime fell he run for presidency with a liberal party. He was then and now a populist.
astroboomboy Says:
May 22, 2012 - In that case, then sure, he is a populist (and I find that to be refreshing). Marxism is populism too, it's just that it hasn't managed to form itself into something viable since the 70s, and thus can't appeal anymore. The fact that Zizek ran for the liberal party was also a positive thing, as the only thing that was viable in Slovenia in that time was to liberalize its economy and create a mixed market.
loverich Says:
May 24, 2012 - Ahahahaha! 'was thinking the same thing! :D
materialist68 Says:
May 25, 2012 - To say that Marxisim is populist, is a contradiction. Populist I mean not taking a clear standpoint in a class society. To be a centrist that playing the game "neutral" or not taking sides, being "all critical". Marxism is the philosophy of action for the proleterian revolution. Well if you are a pro capitalist person well of course it is positive for a free market for the capitalist class to suck profit from the proleteriat. But for a true marxist it is impossible.
