This video demo was created by the San Francisco Production Group as an 1985 ACM Siggraph Symposium entry for Computer Animation. Using one of the first television "paint boxes" of the time, the Images system built by Computer Graphics Lab was used to create 2D graphic art for all surfaces seen in this demo. A single channel Ampex ADO placed the painted images in 3D space to represent the dice and cards and roulette wheel flying through the scene. An Abekas A62 Digital Disk Recorder with digital keyer was used to layer the video and matte channels from the ADO to create a composite of over 27 layers for the final result. This demo was created before 3D digital effects boxes became commonplace and was advanced for its day.
