This was originally intended to be a short video showing a technique used to split bamboo with a knife, but grew into the complete procedure of making a basket, with the addition of some buff willow - I hope it inspires someone to have a go!

Jan 16, 2009 - Thanks for your comment. Willow, if dried, should always be soaked and mellowed before use. The bamboo I used straight away.

Jan 17, 2009 - Excellent. I have never seen this done with bamboo before. Great Idea as I have lots in the garden that needs cutting down. P.s. Will you make any of your videos in colour.

Jan 17, 2009 - With respect, I do not have time for a lesson. It is my intention not to produce instructional videos, but videos that inspire. Good luck with your projects.

Jun 29, 2010 - hey toni, to me, your material looks more like river cane than young bamboo shoots. Am I correct in my observation? The black and white view of your vid could be impeding my judgment, but thats what it looks like to me. I still like your technique. Thanks for making the vid

Jan 16, 2009 - Great stuff! Do you have to dry the willow in any way, or can you use it straight away? It's an underated material I think.
