Apr 20, 2012 - Thank you so much for going in-depth on the apple extend keyboard 2. I have one of those from my old Macintosh 2si. I am seriously thinking in buy a griffin imate. I was wondering if all the keys work correctly under OS X Lion and if there is any 3rd party software you have to buy?

Apr 21, 2012 - Nope, the keyboard works right out of the box with lion and all version of windows as long as you use the imate. Make sure that if/when you get an imate, you plug the keyboard into it first before you plug it into the mac. Imate's are getting pretty hard to find (I had to pay $65 for mine) but I would check amazon first because thats where I got mine. All the keys work without issue, but the F keys do not function as brightness, volume, transport controls etc so you should be mindful of that.
